The Winter Yorkshire Championships was split for a second year into two short course competitions. The purpose of this meet was for the swimmers to demonstrate an improvement in their racing skills from the YCBC Autumn Extravaganza and also for the swimmers to step up to the very high level of racing at the competition.

Whilst competing at the recent York City Baths Club Autumn Extravaganza, Nathan broke his own GB Deaf Record for 11 & Unders 50m breaststroke. Nathan had an amazing swim, producing a new record time of 51.15 seconds.
The season of competing kicked off for YCBC starting with our own meet, the York City Baths Club Autumn Extravaganza at the John Charles Centre in Leeds. Strong representation was present from all training squads with over 100 YCBC swimmers in attendance over the weekend.
YCBC masters swimmer Emma Wills won four medals at the World Masters Swimming Championships 2017 held in Budapest (Hungary). Emma won the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle in ladies 35-39 years age group. She also picked up a silver medal in the open water event.
14 Swimmers from YCBC qualified for the 3 Summer National Championship events in Sheffield during late July and early August. The number of qualifiers from York City has almost doubled from the 8 Swimmers who qualified a year ago.
Today is the day for several York City Bath Club swimmers as the Swim England national summer meet begins. The Championships take place at Ponds Forge Sheffield between the 2nd and 6th of August. The Rotherham Metro A & B grade meet was designated as the end of season competition for a number of YCBC swimmers. The target of an end of season meet is for the swimmers to perform at their very best and showcase the skills developed and practiced throughout the season.
Our swimmers stepped up to the challenge and recorded almost 200 PBs over the course of the weekend out of 230 swims.
