A squad of 18 children competed in this B/C graded gala, with medals for the top 3 swimmers in each gender, grade and age group.
9 year old girls Lucy Jordan (5/5), Alandra Swainston (5/5)and Poppy Dodsworth (4/4) achieved PB’s in each of their entered events as did 9 year old boy Sam Pickup (5/5). Whilst a silver medal was attained by Daisy Jackson in the 50m breaststroke,
An outstanding performance by the 10 year old girls included Isabella Spencley’s (3/3) PBs, Jessica Crosby’s (4/5) PBs and gold medal in the 50m breaststroke and speeding ticket in the 50m freestyle, and Georgina Rooke’s gold medal in the 100m backstroke, silver medal in the 50m backstroke, with 2 speeding tickets in the 50m and 100m breaststroke events. Sammy Johnson kept the success going for the boys with (2/3) PBs and gold and silver medal in the 50m backstroke and freestyle events respectively.
In the 11 year age group, Leah Pinder managed (3/4) PBs and James Buxton took the bronze medal in the 50m backstroke.
12 year olds Katie Lund (2/3) PBs and a speeding ticket in the 50m freestyle and Alexander Mortimer (2/3) PBs, silver in the 200m individual medley and 2 bronze medals in 100m freestyle and breaststroke and Reece Heron (3/4) PBs, gold medal in the 50m butterfly and bronze in the 50m backstroke also gave noteworthy performances.
13 year old Anna Adams added to the medal tally with a silver in the 50m freestyle.
Praiseworthy swims by all the competitors helped YCBC take 9th place overall, out of the 24 clubs represented.
Very well done to each and everyone of the swimmers who wore the YCBC colours and competed with enthusiasm as part of this swim team!
