After three weekends of competing, two weekends of short course at Leeds and one weekend of long course at Sheffield I am pleased to report on a successful Championships for YCBC swimmers.
The majority of the swimmers who competed were purposely unrested for the competition in order to hopefully achieve their best performances at a later meet as the national qualifying window and Regional Championships approaches. The club has shown progression from last year by winning more medals and qualifying for more finals at this years Championship. It was important that swimmers who qualified for the finals were able to step up their performances in the final so it was impressive to see 57% of swims faster than the heats.
One of the highlights was the performances by the club at the teams event. The club won five medals compared to two last year and it was evident to see that we are closing the gap on the clubs ahead in a number of age groups.
