York City Baths Club took a squad of 19 swimmers to the Derventio eXcel 9th Long Course Open Meet, over the weekend of 11th and 12th April 2015.
A quartet of swimmers netted 5 Bronze Medals in this extremely competitive Level 1 Meet, where medals were awarded to the fastest 3 swimmers in each age group, with age as on the 31st December 2015.
In the 15+ years category, accomplished campaigner Annie Johnston secured a 200m Butterfly Bronze medal, in a personal best time of 2:23:48, and a second Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke.
Genna Suddes showed sustained determination to capture the 14 year old girls 100m Freestyle Bronze medal, in a personal best time of 1:03:68, narrowly missing the Silver medal by 0:04 seconds.
11 year olds, Mollie-Jo Garratt and Kimberley Thompson, put in outstanding performances to take a Bronze each, Mollie-Jo in the 50m Backstroke and Kimberley in the 50m Freestyle. Both girls also recorded 100% personal bests in their entered events, which is a commendable performance.
Congratulations are also extended to Beth Gibbons, Nikki Merrett and Ellen Suddes on achieving personal bests in each of their multiple entered events at the Meet.
The Club would also like to acknowledge the achievement of every squad member in competing at this level of competition, and thank Head Coach, Mark Sheldrick, and Regional Squad Coach, Anna Nicholson for providing the motivational inspiration on poolside throughout the weekend.
