The YCBC swimmers were competing in Sheffield at Ponds Forge over the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd November 2024 at the Swim England North East Short Course Regional Championships. The championships were split into two separate pools (Age Group swimmers aged 11-14 years and Youth / Senior swimmers aged 15 years and over)
Between the two competitions, there were 140 races for the YCBC swimmers of which 78 were swam in personal best times. Seven swimmers won medals with 16 in the age group pool and 4 in the open age pool, totaling 20 medals. It was a very successful championships for the team and it was great to see a growing number of swimmers making their first of many NER appearances.
The busy period of short course racing will continue in two weeks with the club championships. The short course season will conclude with a very busy week in early December where five YCBC swimmers have qualified for the SE Winter Nationals in Sheffield (Callum Aitken, Raya Harrand, Megan Mills. Philip Suddes and Alexander Tew) and our annual Winter Extravaganza will be held in Leeds.
