Three swimmers from York City Baths Club were part of a Yorkshire team that won the ASA National Masters and Senior Inter Counties Competition.
Masters swimmers Carol Brown, Duncan Brown and Scott Brown were all selected to represent Yorkshire based upon the times they have swum throughout the year.
Yorkshire competed against Cheshire, Lancashire and Northumberland and Durham for Northern county honours at the John Charles Aquatic Centre in November and were crowned champions. A competition of thirty counties nationwide was then run based upon the times swum on the day at each of the regional competitions. Again, Yorkshire finished clear winners ahead of Warwickshire in 2nd place and Sussex in 3rd.
Duncan was selected to swim the individual race in all four strokes and finished in the top 5 nationally in all events: he was 3rd in the 50m breaststroke; 4th in the 50m freestyle and the 50m butterfly; and 5th in the 50m backstroke. Carol earned important points for Yorkshire in the 50m backstroke (7th), butterfly (10th) and freestyle (12th) individual events. All three swimmers represented Yorkshire in a number of relay events.
Congratulations to Carol, Duncan and Scott – you did both YCBC and Yorkshire County proud!
