Over the weekend of the 17 and 18th of March thirty five members of the Club’s Development, Junior Club, County and Club Squads braved the wintry weather to compete at Richmond Dales SC Development Gala held at Billingham.
Swim Wales Masters
While some of our National Squad swimmers were competing in Edinburgh last weekend, YCBC masters swimmer Emma Wills travelled to Swansea through the snow to compete in the Swim Wales Masters LC.
County Success at Yorkshire Championships for YCBC Swimmers
After three weekends of competing, two weekends of short course at Leeds and one weekend of long course at Sheffield I am pleased to report on a successful Championships for YCBC swimmers.

Race strategy practice Meet a success for YCBC
YCBC swimmers from National and Regional Squad competed at the Level 1 Burns Meet in Sheffield over the weekend of 27th and 28th January.
Strong Performances close the year at the Winter Nationals
Six of YCBCs top swimmers qualified for 17 events in the Swim England Winter National Championships during December at Ponds Forge. This represented a significant increase from last year with one swimmer qualifying in one event at the 2016 competition.
Save the Date – YCBC Annual Presentation Evening and Disco
Save the Date
YCBC Annual Presentation evening and disco will be held at The Poppleton Centre in Main Street, Poppleton on Saturday 13th January 2018.
The evening will commence at 18:30 with the buffet followed by the presentation ceremony and then the disco. The bar at the Centre will be open throughout the evening and those wishing to make a night of it will be pleased to hear that we can dance the night away until at least 23:30.
Please note, this is a new date for this event, which has been moved forward due to a recent change to the gala calendar.
Development Squad ā Lead Coach Appointment
Iām very pleased to announce that Allison (Allie) Campbell will take on the role of Lead Coach for Development Squad when Jen leaves us at the end of December. In the run up to Christmas you can expect Allie to be increasingly visible at Development Squad sessions as she works alongside Jen in order to help ensure a smooth handover. For the foreseeable future Kathy Jordan will continue to support Development Squad and will take the Monday evening session at the Mount.
Teaching Co-ordinator Announcement
It is much regret that we have to advise you that Shelley Postchild will step down from the role of Teaching Co-ordinator at the end of December. As much as we are sorry to see Shelley leave us we are also delighted to announce that Mandy Aitken will be taking on the role and has already started to work with Shelley to help ensure a smooth handover.
YCBC swimmers shine at Winter NER Championships
The Winter NER Championships this year was split into two separate competitions. The Age Group event was held in a short course pool for swimmers aged between 11-13 years at the Sunderland Aquatics Centre. The Senior/Junior event was held in a long course pool at Ponds Forge in Sheffield and open to all qualifying swimmers.
