Nathan Carrington, Development Squad swimmer, recently competed at National Junior Para-Swimming Championships 2017. The event was funded by Swim England and delivered by the English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS).
Held at Sunderland Aquatics Centre on 24 and 25 June, the event provided young disabled swimmers with more competition experience and an opportunity to win medals against national rivals.
Nathan took part in several events across the weekend the highlight winning a gold medal in his 100m Freestyle with nearly a 7 second PB in the 10/13yrs S15 category.
Nathan had a great event- the highlight being smashing his personal best for 100m free by nearly seven seconds and earning himself a well-deserved gold medal. National events are especially important for young swimmers as it gives them a fantastic experience to make new friends and swim against different young talent.
Proud Dad
It was a new experience for Nathan and I, as a coach, attending a Para-swimming event, not to mention a National Para-swimming event! It was such an incredible eye opener for Nathan, his parents and myself. I am extremely proud of his results at the championships and I wish him all the success in the future.
