YCBC Masters swimmers bought home eight medals from the ASA National Masters Short Course Championships, held in Sheffield on 28th – 30th October 2016.
The competition brings together the top Masters swimmers from across the country, with European and World records being broken.
Emma Wills led the way for YCBC with four individual gold medals and a silver in the ladies 35 to 39 years age group. Emma was victorious in the 200m (2:14.57), 400m (4:36.72), 800m (9:26.47) and 1500m (17:59.76) freestyle and finished 2nd in the 200m backstroke (2:27.88). Further gold medals were added by Louise Boaz in the ladies 25 to 29 years 50m (27.13) and 100m (58.76) freestyle. Louise also finished 4th in the 200m freestyle (2:10.38).
Emma and Louise combined with teammates Nick Boaz and David Wiseman to win a silver medal in the mixed 120 years and over 4x100m freestyle relay.
There were further top ten finishes from YCBC swimmers courtesy of Nick in the men’s 50m breaststroke, Tom Bartram in the men’s 200m backstroke and 400m freestyle, and the mixed 4x50m freestyle and medley relay teams comprising Emma, Louise, Tom and Andrea Meo. Several of the swims were also completed in personal best times; a great achievement for our Masters swimmers!
