Six of the National Squad swimmers qualified for 18 events in the Swim England Short Course Winter Meet over the weekend of the 14th-16th December at Ponds Forge in Sheffield. All of the qualifiers were swimming in the junior category which was for swimmers aged 15 years and under.
The team performed very well at the meet with 8 best times out of 18 swims with a further 7 swims within 0.5 of a second of their PBs. Most of the swimmers previous best times were achieved at the Regional Championships in November so it was encouraging to see further improvements to close out the short course season.
Jason Robson won 3 medals at the championship taking Gold in the 100 IM and two silvers in the 100 Breaststroke and 200 IM. He also broke two of his own Yorkshire Records in the 100 IM and 200 Breaststroke.
There were also 4 top ten finishes in the junior category from Jason Robson in the 50 and 200 Breaststroke and 400 IM and Mollie-Jo Garratt in the 100 Backstrokez
The National Squad swimmers will now enjoy a short break over Christmas and resume action in January with the first long course meet of the season in Sunderland.
