It is much regret that we have to advise you that Shelley Postchild will step down from the role of Teaching Co-ordinator at the end of December. As much as we are sorry to see Shelley leave us we are also delighted to announce that Mandy Aitken will be taking on the role and has already started to work with Shelley to help ensure a smooth handover.
Shelley’s contribution to the teaching section during her role as Teaching Co-ordinator has been exceptional. Our teaching offering has always been a core strength, fantastically supported by dedicated and passionate volunteers. Shelley has helped the Club to establish a role that provides a professional link between our teaching volunteers, swimmers and parents. As a result the teaching section has gone from strength to strength with an ever increasing number of children learning to swim with YCBC and entering our competitive training programme.
Mandy has a long term affiliation with the sport having swum competitively through University and flirted with both Masters and Open Water swimming. She has been a volunteer teacher with YCBC for the past 4 years and in recent months has also supported our Development Squad Coach, gaining a valuable insight into what is required of swimmers who wish to progress to the competitive training section of our Club. She has also coached summer league swimming in the United States of America.
Mandy has gained her Swim England Level 2 Teaching Certificate and also holds the NRASTC (National Rescue Award for Swim Teachers and Coaches) qualification.
The Teaching Co-ordinator role is a key role within York City Baths Club and I’m thrilled that Mandy has agreed to deliver the role and continue the excellent work undertaken by Shelley. I’m sure you will join me in wishing Mandy every success.
Kind regards,
Steve Creighton
