This year we are hoping to plan a trip to Swansea to compete in the British Gas Swim Wales Summer Nationals. This competition is open to any swimmer who has not qualified for the British Gas Age Group or Youth/Senior Championships. Swimmers must be aged 10 years and upwards (age as at 8th August 2014).
The event is a fantastic opportunity for your child to swim at an event that replicates the British Gas ASA National Championships, with heats and finals. The live streaming, commentator and manner in which the pool is ‘dressed up’ for the event, makes this the perfect way to finish the 2013/14 season!
We would like to run this as a team event, so the swimmers would travel together with a group of coaches and team managers and stay in a hotel close to the pool.
Parents are welcome to come and watch, however you will need to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements. We want to make it as much a team event as possible – giving the children something to remember when they look back at their time with YCBC.
Swimmers would attend the pool each day (regardless of how many swims they are competing) in to support each other – when they’re not required to be at the pool, swimmers will participate in additional team building activities.
The event starts on Saturday 2nd August 2014 and finishes on Friday 8th August. It is anticipated that we would need to travel down on Friday 1st August and return late on the evening of Friday 8th August.
At this moment in time we are just wanting to know how many swimmers would be interested in competing and then we will have a meeting to cover things in more detail and discuss costing etc.
Those interested must send an expression of interest via e-mail to Anna Nicholson (mnick1@talktalk.net).
