York City Baths Club took a squad of 22 swimmers to the the 2014 ASANER Winter Short Course Championships, held at the Sunderland Aquatic Centre over the weekend of 6th and 7th December. We extend credit for their achievement of a solid 59% Personal Best (PB) record at this prestigious meet.
11 year old Jason Robson, who will be a full member of the YCBC National Squad from January 2015, showed off his full potential with 8/9 PBs and a magnificent haul of 6 Silver medals and 2 Bronze medals, while narrowly missing another in the 200m Freestyle event.
Meanwhile in the Junior/Senior sector, seasoned campaigners at this level of competition, Lucy Nicholson, Annie Johnston and Katarina Bonner also medalled. Lucy’s PB of 9:13:38 in the 800m Freestyle, gained her the Silver medal. Annie’s PB of 1:11:50 in the 100m Breaststroke, gained her a Bronze; and she also participated in the 50m Breaststroke and 200m Butterfly finals, finishing a noteworthy 6th and 7th respectively. Katarina’s PB of 29:48 in the 50m Butterfly secured a Bronze; and she recorded consecutive PBs in the heats and finals of the 100m butterfly and 200m Backstroke events.
Samuel Pickup and Sophie Brown also merit a special mention as they maintained a 100% PB record for their multiple events.
The Club would like to congratulate every swimmer who qualified to participate at this event.
