Four YCBC swimmers were part of a Yorkshire team that finished runners up in the 2016 ASA National Masters and Senior Inter Counties Competition.
Masters swimmers Louise Boaz, Nick Boaz, Carol Brown and Duncan Brown were all selected to represent Yorkshire based upon the times they have swum throughout the year.
Yorkshire competed against Cheshire, Northumberland and Durham, Lancashire and Cumbria for Northern county honours in Blackpool in November and were crowned champions. A competition of twenty-eight counties nationwide was then run based upon the times swum on the day at each of the regional competitions. Yorkshire finished runners up, not far behind eventual winners, Hampshire.
Louise was selected to represent Yorkshire in the 25+ years 50m Freestyle, finishing 2nd nationally. Carol competed in the 65+ years 50m freestyle, finishing 10th nationally, and 50m backstroke, finishing 12th. Duncan swam in the 65+ years 50m freestyle, backstroke and butterfly finishing 14th, 11th and 16th respectively in each of his events.
The four swimmers also participated in nine relay events helping Yorkshire to earn vital points. Highlights include Louise’s medley relay team finishing 2nd nationally and Nick’s freestyle relay teams finishing 3rd nationally.
