The season of competing kicked off for YCBC starting with our own meet, the York City Baths Club Autumn Extravaganza at the John Charles Centre in Leeds. Strong representation was present from all training squads with over 100 YCBC swimmers in attendance over the weekend.
The main focus of the competition was for the swimmers to perform the skills learnt during early season training and transfer them into the competitive environment. The YCBC swimmers didn’t disappoint and showcased some excellent short course skills over the course of the meet.
The personal best tally was surprisingly high for an early season meet with 356 best times recorded out of 537 swims which is 66% of the swims. A number of swimmers also achieved NER qualifying times for the upcoming regional events in October and November.
The YCBC medal tally was equally impressive with 180 medals won consisting of 67 Gold, 60 Silver and 53 Bronze medals.
The competition wouldn’t have run so smoothly without the fantastic support of the York City Baths Club community, thank you to everybody who supported the event.
