The weekend of 16th/17th May 2015 saw York City Baths Club represented by a team of 14 Regional and National Squad swimmers at the Rotherham Metro Level 1 Open Meet, held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Between them, the 14 swimmers swam 48 times, setting 34 personal bests and achieving 21 top ten places, with a medal count of two golds, two silvers and one bronze. A truly great performance!
Two swimmers merit a special mention.
Ella Fisher (12) swam 5/5 PBs and won a silver medal in the 200m butterfly (a long and hard race for a young swimmer!) and a bronze in the 100m butterfly.
Sam Russell (14) swam 4/4 PBs and won 2 gold medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and a silver medal in the 50m butterfly.
Ellen Suddes also deserves recognition. Ellen, who has for many years been one of the top swimmers in the Club, achieved a PB in the 100m breaststroke, just missing out on a medal. She is a great role model for the Club’s younger swimmers, showing that hard work and dedication pays off.
