Not the usual type of meet swimmers attend …but certainly just as profitable.
After 9 years of waiting YCBC were invited to the Ebor Race Meeting to take a collection to boost our funds.
A dedicated group of Swimmers, Coaches, Parents and Committee joined forces to hold bright collection buckets to attract the attention of the punters.
As the atmosphere built prior to the first race the buckets began to fill up quite nicely as YCBC collectors could be seen the whole length of the road behind the county stand and meeting new arrivals in the Coach Park.
Kathy and Lucy Jordan were well placed for donations at the entrance to the Champagne Bar; however it was Alex Neale who bagged the donation of the day when a successful and stylish lady handed over a £50 note with a cheery ‘Here, have this!’
A rain shower didn’t dampen YCBC’s enthusiasm for collecting; although, it did cause buckets to fill with water and some of the team members to lose their well styled hair!
The end of the day was very entertaining as some of the race-goers struggled with their coordination but all were good spirited and enjoyed conversation with our collecting team as they departed from the Knavesmire.
Thanks to all the YCBC team who gave their time and energy before, after and during the collection to raise the huge total of £2,336. A special mention to David Jordan our Treasurer who took the 27kg of cash to the bank in a suitcase on wheels!
