Young swimmers from York City Baths Club came home with a haul of medals from the recent Yorkshire Championships.
Held over three weekends last month, the swimmers, aged between 9 and 18 years, swam in individual and team events at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
Jason Robson, 13, came away from the Championships with a record 16 medals from 16 races.
Jason took gold in the Breaststroke at 50m, 100m and 200m. He also claimed gold in the 200m and 400m Individual Medley before going on to take the win in the 100m and 200m Freestyle events. To complete his collection, Jason took silver in the Butterfly and Backstroke across all three distances and in the 400m and 1500m Freestyle. To make it a full house, he also collected a bronze in the 50m Freestyle.

This is an outstanding achievement against the best swimmers from clubs across Yorkshire.

Several of Jason’s club mates also brought home their first Yorkshire medals and titles. Marcus Walker, 14, took gold in the 50m Breaststroke whilst 11 year old Ollie Creighton took silver in the 100m Freestyle and bronze in the 100m Butterfly. Flying the flag for the girls, 14 year old Ella Fisher took her first County medal in the 200m Butterfly, coming third.
In the team events, Philip Suddes, Callum Aitken, Jack Yates and Oscar Fenby took bronze in the 9/10 year old boys 200m Freestyle relay, swimming their final a blistering eight seconds faster than their qualifying heat. Head Coach Josh said:
It was a fantastic performance from some of our youngest competitive swimmers.
Jake Rodway, Marcus Walker, Jason Robson and James Ruxton also found the podium in the Boys 13/14 Individual Medley Team event.
Twelve year old Mollie-Jo Garrett, dominated in the Backstroke, taking silver in the 50m, 100m and 200m events. Freya Beck, 17, took bronze in the 200m Backstroke, 18 year old Annie Johnston snatched third place in the 200m Individual Medley and 100m Breaststroke and Samuel Pickup also collected a bronze medal in the 50m Butterfly.
