Four swimmers from York City Baths Club were part of a Yorkshire team that won the 2015 ASA National Masters and Senior Inter Counties Competition.
Masters swimmers Carol Brown, Emma Wills, Duncan Brown and Scott Brown were all selected to represent Yorkshire based upon the times they had swum throughout the year. Yorkshire competed against Cheshire, Northumberland and Durham for Northern county honours at the John Charles Centre, Leeds, on 14th November 2015, and were crowned champions. A competition of 28 counties nationwide was then run based upon the times swum on the day at each of the regional competitions. Again, Yorkshire finished clear winners, ahead of Warwickshire in 2nd place and Hampshire in 3rd.
Emma, Carol and Duncan all represented Yorkshire in a number of individual events. Nationally, Duncan finished 2nd in the 50m freestyle, 4th in the 50m backstroke and 6th in 50m butterfly. Carol won all her events in the regional gala, and came 7th nationally in the 50m butterfly and 11th in the 50m freestyle and backstroke. Emma competed in the 50m backstroke, coming 4th nationally, and was also part of the Yorkshire 140+ years medley relay that was victorious in the national competition. All four swimmers participated in at least two relays teams, finishing in the top 8 nationally, which helped to contribute important points for Yorkshire.
Congratulations to all four swimmers for helping Yorkshire win the competition for the second successive year!
