York City Baths Club swimmers produced some outstanding performances at the 2014 Yorkshire SA Winter Championships.
42 swimmers qualified to represent the Club at the annual Yorkshire SA Winter Championships, held at Ponds Forge, Sheffield, over the weekend of 11th/12th October 2014. A unified team spirit on poolside complimented individual performances in the pool, highlighting the superb 71% achievement of Personal Bests (PBs) recorded across the squad.
11 year old Paris Grenier (5/5PBs) was exceptional and gained 2 Silver medals in the 100m Breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley, plus 2 further top ten finishes in the 100m Butterfly and 100m Freestyle events.
10 year old Beth Gibbons (3/4PBs) continued her outstanding run of form by attaining 2 Bronze medals in the 100m Butterfly and the 100m Freestyle, whilst established campaigner, 16 year old Annie Johnston (3/5PBs) took Bronze in the 100m Breaststroke, and finished in the top ten in each of the 5 events for girls aged 14 years and over.
9 year old Oliver Creighton (4/5PBs) put in the most consistent performance amongst the boys, just missing out on a medal in the 50m Freestyle, and securing 4 further top ten finishes.
A top ten place was rewarded, and children achieving this status received a Yorkshire SA Winter Competition Finalist swimming cap.

Samuel Pickup – (2/4PBs), 8th place in the 50m Butterfly

Genna Suddes – (4/5PBs), 10th place in the 100m Freestyle

George Hogg – (4/4PBs), joint 9th place in the 100m Breaststroke
Sam Russell – (4/5PBs), joint 9th place in the 100m Breaststroke
Girls, 14 years old and over
Ellen Suddes (16yrs) – (2/5 PBs), 10th place in the 100m Breaststroke
An additional mention and congratulations is extended to YCBC Pathway swimmer 11 year old Jason Robson (5/5PBs), representing Ryedale, who gained the following honours: Gold, 100m Butterfly; Silver, 100m Freestyle; Bronze, 100m Breaststroke and 100m Backstroke; and 4th place, 200m Individual Medley.
